IN 2015, JOSÉ MENÉNDEZ & THE REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED LEGISLATURE PASSED A BUDGET THAT CUT $350 MILLION FOR ACUTE THERAPY SERVICES DESPERATELY NEEDED BY 60,000 OF OUR STATE'S MOST VULNERABLE,

DISABLED CHILDREN LIKE MIRANDA HERNANDEZ (PICTURED ABOVE).

Instead of recognizing the harm his vote would wreak in the lives of families across the state, José Menéndez boasted about the "accomplishment."

José Menéndez demonstrated that he would rather go along to get along to stay in Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick's good graces.

HOWEVER, THESE CUTS WERE

COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY.

At the time José Menéndez voted for these cuts, there was $3 BILLION of revenue available for investing in our children and the future of our state. Rather than stand up for children with special needs, however, José Menéndez refused to lead and helped pass Dan Patrick's budget.

If politicians like José Menéndez would have done what was right from the start, none of this would have ever happened.

THESE CUTS HAVEN'T BEEN IMPLEMENTED

BECAUSE THEY ARE SHAMEFUL AND IMMORAL.

Thankfully, these cuts have been widely condemned. A judge has even called into question the judgement of politicians like José Menéndez who voted for these cuts that would limit Texans' access

to life-saving care.

State District Judge Tim Sulak ordered the Texas Health and Human Services Commission not to implement the cuts because they would limit Texans' access to care.

THE BUDGET IS A MORAL DOCUMENT AND IT SHOULD

REFLECT OUR SAN ANTONIO VALUES.

THAT'S WHY EVERY DEMOCRAT IN THE SAN ANTONIO HOUSE DELEGATION VOTED AGAINST THE BUDGET - BECAUSE OF THE IRREPARABLE HARM IT WOULD CAUSE TO OUR DISABLED CHILDREN.

*REP. MCCLENDON WAS EXCUSED ABSENT

BUT NOT JOSÉ MENÉNDEZ.

JOSÉ MENÉNDEZ CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO STAND UP FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES.
